When I think of the word splendid, it brings to mind the song, Love is a many splendid thing. If you are very young, you probably don't remember. When I think of love, of course, I think of the person who is love, our heavenly Father. What kind of love does the Father have in his heart that created you. I mean, he took his time on you. You may not think so because often we think of ourselves as just part of the group, part of man-kind, part of the human race. However, I just heard something recently that I found fascinating. There is a passage in the Bible that says, I come in the volume of the book. Traditionally, that has been thought to be Jesus. We would say the bible is written entirely about him, we understand that he came to fulfill what was written about him in the bible and so there you have it. However, there is a book for each one of us. I just started warming up to that idea, when I just recently heard someone say, not only do we each have our own book, but the Lord, Himself, actually wrote the book about each one of us before we were born.
Don't get my mind to start thinking about how this could be possible. But this is a God who can tell us exactly how many hairs we have on our head. The attention to detail and the care that God exercised in creating each one of us is unfathomable. Apparently, we were already established in the heart of God before we ever got here. We were not mass produced. I believe each one of us carries a unique expression of God within. He took the time to invest Himself in each one of us. I don't know how long it took. We are so used to everything being done so fast. But God could have taken hundreds of thousands of years just to take time to describe the life and purpose that he created for each of us to live. He is in eternity. He has nothing but time. In fact, He has so much time, time doesn't even exist for him. The past, present and future are as fresh to him now as it was centuries ago, and centuries into the future. For God, everything is now. Now faith is… Today, if you hear His voice, harden not your heart. Jesus is the same yesterday, today and forever.
Five children can come from the same parents and yet each one of them is distinct and different. God is a God of patterns. He patterned our earthly families after His heavenly family. So you are distinct in your beauty, "above the ordinary" because it is impossible for God to create anything that is ordinary. Everything is does extra-ordinary.
So now getting back to those books that are written for each one of us. It was God's desire for you to fulfill what was written of you in your book. The fact that there is a book written about you in heaven makes you "above the ordinary in excellence or magnificence". How could you be anything less than excellent or magnificent when God himself fashioned and formed you. This is God, who made sure that not even two snowflakes would be the same. With that knowledge, you can understand that you have a job. Your job is to "be" who God created you to be. This can get a little tricky because what God has written in the book about you and the way other people see you and the way you see yourself can be conflicting. Problems can arise when you try to execute God's vision for your life, or you try to live authentically. I can only say that it is worth creating the boundaries in your life necessary to protect this splendid beauty that God has invested in you. If we look into the face of God to see our reflection, we will get a much clearer picture of our real identity and what makes us so glorious in the eyes of God. Abandon all thoughts of needing to live up to someone else's opinion of you and do like Jesus did. Come in the volume of the book that is written of you. You are beautiful, you are splendid.
Heavenly Father, I thank you that I have come in the volume of the book that is written of me. I decree that I will not be confined to ordinary. I will excel at being exactly who you created me to be. I will not succumb to the pressure of societal norms and culture. I decree and declare I will guard the uniqueness that you have placed in me and I will take advantage of opportunities provided and the divine favor that are mine as a child of the King of Kings. I decree that I will not settle for anything less than the standard of "splendid in my life. I decree and declare that my mind is renewed to the fact that I am fearfully and wonderfully made. I decree and declare that I will walk boldly in the revelations of what it means to be splendid. I am splendid. My life is splendid. My ideas are splendid. My outcomes--splendid!
Father, I want to thank you for the time and love that you invested in my life before I was even born. You think of everything before-hand. That's why I know that it is impossible for me to have a need that you cannot fulfill. Father, grant me out of the rich treasury of your glory to be strengthened and reinforced in my inner man by the Holy Spirit [Himself indwelling my innermost being and personality.]
