Ephesians 1, TPT
Every spiritual blessing in the heavenly realm has already been lavished upon us as a love gift from our wonderful heavenly Father, the Father of our Lord Jesus—all because he sees us wrapped into Christ. This is why we celebrate him with all our hearts! And he chose us to be his very own, joining us to himself even before he laid the foundation of the universe! Because of his great love, he ordained us, so that we would be seen as holy in his eyes with an instant innocence. For it was always in his perfect plan to adopt us as his delightful children, through our union with Jesus, the Anointed One, so that his tremendous love that cascades over us would glorify his grace—for the same love he has for his Beloved One, Jesus, her has for us. And this unfolding plan brings him great pleasure.
Through our union with Christ we too have been claimed by God as his own inheritance. Before we were even born, he gave us our destiny; that we would fulfill the plan of God who plays accomplishes every purpose and plan in His heart.
God saw to it that we would be the “real deal”. He didn’t just take us in, save our souls and keep us from going to hell. He made us his own. He made us a legal part of His family. He legitimized and made us his genuine sons through the sacrificially giving the life of his only begotten son. The Bible says, we have received the Spirit of Adoption as sons, by whom we cry, “Abba! Father!”. The Spirit himself bears witness with our spirit that we are the children of God, and if children then heirs — heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ, provided we suffer with him in order that we may also be glorified with him.

As we move from verse 13 to verses 14-17, there is a new theme that becomes dominant, and it is one of the most precious themes in the Bible. The theme is our sonship—that Christians are children of God. Nowhere in the book of Romans up till now have we been called sons or children of God. But now the words come thick and heavy and full of freedom and joy and love and hope.
Father I thank you for making a genuine son. May my life fulfill the prayer of Jesus which was that we would be one. That I would take up my abode and dwell in you and Jesus.
Lord, empower me to not only be a son, but to walk as a son. Fully aware of my responsibility to take care of my father’s business. May I be a faithful son administering the affairs of your kingdom and bringing heaven down to earth. May will kingdom come and your will be done in my life, in my family, community, church and nation. In Jesus’s name I pray. Amen.
