Definition: lavishly elegant and refined
Etymology: "carefully selected", from Latin exquisitus "carefully sought out"
The LORD has made proclamation
to the ends of the earth:
“Say to Daughter Zion,
‘See, your Savior comes!
See, his reward is with him,
and his recompense accompanies him.’”
They will be called the Holy People,
the Redeemed of the LORD;
and you will be called Sought After,
the City No Longer Deserted
No matter what has happened in your life previous to today, you can begin to renew your mind to the fact that you are exquisite. Perhaps you already know that. If not, here is a major reason why you should add "exquisite" to your list of attributes.
The word exquisite means to be "carefully selected" and "carefully sought out. If you read the scripture above, you can take it two ways. Both are wonderful and I believe concur with what the Lord wants to convey.
He says, you will be called, "Sought After". I believe one way to receive that is to receive the fact that the Lord has sought you out. The other way is that because of the tremendous deliverance God carried out, by wiping away everything that had her in a desolate place, she is now sought after by other people, friends, family, the community. They are motivated to seek her instead of reject her as they did previously. The move of God in her life is so amazing that people who used to reject her are now longing to find her because what they didn't see before, they can see now. They can see how valuable she is. They can see what God has known all along.
Sought Out and Carefully Selected by God
I don't think anyone can argue with the fact that we have been sought out and carefully selected by God. We know that He sent His son to die for us. However, can you make it personal to you? Are you able to acknowledge the fact that God sought you out ,in particular? Have you ever thought about how the Lord is seeking you out today. He seeks to have communion and fellowship with you. Have you thought about the fact that you are on his mind continually. It is hard for us to imagine how God does it. With all of the millions of people in the world, God is able to hone in on each one of us every moment of every hour of every day. Part of the reason we don't enter into the depth of fellowship with God available to us is because we don't realize that he actually misses you, personally, when he doesn't hear from you. When you don't look to him first. If we meditate on that for just a little while, I believe it can deepen our love, appreciation and desire to spend more time with him.
He mentions in the scripture that she will no longer be deserted. Rejection is bad enough, but if you have ever been abandoned then you know how painful it can be. The thing is, you can only really be abandoned by someone you care about, or you expect should care about you. That's why it hurts. You have been essentially, "left for dead". At least it feels that way. The person is saying, I don't care enough about you to keep you in my life.
Then there is the kind of abandonment that the person was not in control of. They left for whatever reason, they were prevented from being there for you. But it doesn't matter, the feelings of grief, are still the same however it was done. I love that the Lord is letting her know, her status has changed. Her condition has changed. Her relationships will change. Above all else, he is saying that he will personally see to it that she has a name change. Her new name is "Sought After". Her reproach has been wiped away with a name change. Her identity is changed. The Father is letting her know she can expect major change in her life and nothing will ever be the same.
I clipped the following excerpt from the website called, The Wardrobe Door, by Aaron Earls
Live your life knowing that you are called “Sought After” by God. You don’t have to do anything to gain approval or love. You don’t have to give yourself away to someone else desperately trying to garner their attention, earn their acceptance. The King of Kings has called you His. He has called you “Sought After.”
Holy Spirit, activate within me a level of passion and deep love for my Heavenly Father that causes His heart to be pleased. Create in me a heart that call God "Sought After". He is our beloved Father who sent Jesus to make a way for us to be together. God's heavenly family. Allow me to know the reality of the depth of Jesus' love for me. His life was the price that had to be paid for me to not only be sought after, but to be found and reconciled back to God. Father, give me the revelation of my "exquisiteness" in you. Let me take that revelation and leave my life knowing that I was sought after by God himself. Let this knowledge cause me to overcome every old habit and mindset that caused me to settle for less than I should. I will walk in the light of who I am in you and consider old things truly are passed way and everything is new.
I decree and declare that from today, I will see myself the way God sees me, exquisite. I reject every stigma of rejection, abandonment, and shame. I expect to receive double for my trouble. I embrace everything God has empowered me to have, to live and to be in Jesus name, both now and forever. Amen.
