Dry Fasting should be done after you lose you target weight, because you will lose a lot of water weight that you will regain when you start eating.

The approach will be to "Mastering The Belly God"

The inability to control the appetite involves a lot more than just losing weight and looking or being fit.  It tells you a lot about your relationship to God.  It can tell you if you have been using food as a means to numb painful experiences which would still fall under the category of idolatry.  Instead of fasting for 40 days.  Use the 40 days to practice mastering the belly God that the Bible tells us about.  This will use the practice of "obedience" to the Holy Spirit.  We will only eat what he put's in our heart to eat.  How will we know? It's easy, your conscious will convict you if it's the wrong food.  Now the Holy Spirit may give you a fixed plan to go by, or you can just go day by day.  We some parameters, of course.  We will eliminate sugars and all "known" unhealthy foods. No canned, packaged, toxic food.  We are detoxing our bodies.  So decide to choose from clean, whole foods.  Eat healthy fats, reduce or eliminate carbohydrates, eat lots of vegetables.  So eat quality, clean, healthy whole food.  Let the Holy Spirit guide you as to what and how much.  Like ask yourself, "Am I really hungry?", Am I trying to fill a void? Am I having a craving because I am attempting to change my state?

When temptation comes, you must remember:

  1. The Holy Spirit is your Comforter, not food.

  2. Most cravings pass after 30 minutes

  3. You have to master the belly God, not to do so is idolatry.

  4. Ask yourself these questions, Am I willing to exchange my destiny for a bowl of soup like Jacob? For an apple, like Adam and Eve?  Looking at the Story of Adam and Eve you can see clearly how a failure to yield our appetites to the Lord can have generational implications.  Their decision would impact their children, which happened to be the entire world. Or what about the children of Israel who rejected the manna from heaven in exchange for quail. Psalm 106:15 [AMPC] says, And He gave them their request, but sent leanness into their souls and [thinned their numbers by] disease and death.

  5. Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God

  6. The Fear of the Lord, "The fear of the Lord leads to life, and whoever has it rests satisfied; he will not be visited by harm."

  7. Paul said, "I die daily".  Paul didn't mean he had to die once a day,  He was saying he had to die many times a day because he was "crucified with Christ".  I am crucified with Christ, yet not I, but Christ that liveth in me and the life I now live, I live by faith in the Son of God who loved me and gave himself for me .

  8. Failure to "master the belly god" leaves an open door for the enemy to build a stronghold in  your life.  He will prevent you from fulfilling your destiny.  The enemy will use it in the Courts of Heaven to accuse you and rob your life of blessings like prosperity, fruitfulness, and all kinds of promotions.  Instead of making progress you will go backwards.  You will stay in a cycle like the children of Israel, just going around in circles.  If there are lessons God wants you to learn because they are qualities and character foundations that are required for you to fulfill the purpose for which God created you, you will not go to the next level until you get it.  I used to talk about the "rubber band" principle, because just when I thought I was coming to a breakthrough, something would go wrong and I would snap back to the position I was in.  I blamed it on the enemy, and may be it was the enemy, however, it could be that I was giving him a legal right to accuse me and insist I not receive the promotion, whatever it might be.

  9. It is God who is at work within you, both to do and to will of His good pleasure, receive His "inner-working." Not to do so only prolongs the process.
